Project Title: Blackberry, 2300 University Ave, Waterloo Feature Sheet
Client Name: Cushman & Wakefield Waterloo Region
Date Project Completed: November 2019
Role in Project: Graphic Designer, Team Marketing Coordinator
CONTEXT
Describe the client needs / project brief, including project goals and objectives.
The goal with this project was to create a feature sheet using my existing office template. Because the space for lease was located in a Blackberry building there was also a request to be creative with the security restrictions.
METHOD
Describe your design process including any research, analysis or other information gathering and investigation that contributed to your solution.
My first goal was to get to know the property I would be marketing. This involved research of the entire business park, finding extra information on Blackberry (i.e. news articles, property management, etc.) and then tenants that also occupied parts of the park. I then wanted to add extra content to, like all my projects, tell a story of what it was we were marketing. For this I also wanted to showcase the nice architecture pictures of the building and features that were included.
DESIGN PROCESS
Briefly describe the design process from initial concept exploration and presentation to acceptance by the client .
Content collection (files, photography, etc.) and initial file organisation
Took exterior pictures of building and surrounding area
Low fidelity pagination and sketching of layout
Adobe InDesign file creation, typography style exploration (following brand guidelines), grid system, headers, exploring table design for the financial data
Attended meeting with sales reps at the building so that we could better understand the ask, taking pictures and taking notes
Add in content to InDesign following design principles, creating high fidelity first draft PDF to send to Sales Rep for review.
Receive edits and revisions then send them back for review.
Once feature sheet was approved, webpage, social media post and email campaign were created
SOLUTION
Describe your design solution/deliverables and how they achieved project goals and objectives.
One of the major challenges was overcoming the security restrictions. I was tasked with taking photos of the interior but my solutions were to photoshop out sensitive information and logos.
There was another challenge of collecting the information. Since this was also an exclusive listing (not posted publicly), it was difficult to get a hold of the information from the clients as they were located in the United States. And we had to go through another branch of our company to reach out to them. My solution was to work closely with my sales reps and send requests for the content needed in detail so that the request would not get lost in translation. This solution seemed to be successful as I was then included in most of the communications directly with the client.
RESULTS
Provide quantitative/qualitative evidence of the effectiveness of your solution and/or how overcoming any special circumstances and/or challenges on the project demonstrate the effectiveness of your solution.
While following the strict regulations and security protocols We were still successful in getting into the building to take photos as well as finish the marketing while keeping out confidential information. We were also able to successfully communicate to get the needed information. Most of the space has now been successfully filled.
